How Can They Hear?

The SCWP team have recently returned from a great couple of days at the Scripture Union national conference. We were there to build, grow and connect. We were also there to celebrate SU's 150th Birthday and the fantastic work they do and support. The overarching theme was Romans 10v14 -"How can they hear?". I would like to share a couple of points which encouraged and challenged me, and may do the same for you.

In current society, 95% of children and young people are not linked with a church. This means that we need to redefine what church is. Matthew 18:20 (ESV) says "Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." this is what church is. This is the church we must take to young people. At SCWP we view Faith Groups and Christian Unions as a form of church, where pupils can come to find out about who Jesus is, seek faith and pray. We must spend our lives in the messy, public place, rather than willing people to enter the 'tidy' church (Matthew 4 v 8-25). We must strive to be bold, fun and innovative. We must listen, respond to need, give hope, and, most of all, depend on God.

Thank you for your support as we seek to take the love of God to the 95%. Thank you for your constant prayers and encouragement! Please continue to lift us while we look to the future.

Take heart, in the words of Leonard Cohen "There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in."

Love,

Hannah
